A hotel built slowly, on purpose
Lumen Bay opened in 1998 with eleven rooms and one restaurant. We have grown to ninety-four rooms since — and never added a second restaurant, because one done properly is enough.
Run by the family that lives here
Three generations of the same family have worked this stretch of coast. The person who greets you at the door has probably been here longer than the building next door.
That is why the service feels less like a script and more like being looked after. It is also why we still know which rooms catch the morning light, and which table to give you if you want to watch the boats come in.
Three things we refuse to compromise on
The bay comes first
Solar hot water, no single-use plastic, and a reef programme we fund from every booking.
People over polish
Our team is paid above the local living wage and trained here, not hired in for a season.
Fewer things, done well
One restaurant, one spa, one beach. We would rather perfect them than add more.
The coastline we look after
Two hundred metres of sheltered shoreline, a shallow reef that keeps the water calm, and a headland walk that takes about forty minutes at an easy pace. Guests tend to find it on their second morning and return every day after.
